This App is useful for any Broadcast Engineer working with Serial Digital Interface (SDI) Video, who needs to adjust synchroniser values, in order to time multiple sources together.

Multiple sources are timed together with a common analogue timing signal. However due to the fact that these analogue signals can take different [longer] routes, the result is, that the timing signals themselves can be out of sync by the time they reach their destinations (synchronisers).

Therefore all the return sources are measured against the original analogue timing signal to determine any time difference due to long cable runs or processing delays.

Most Waveform Monitors only return a measured value of whole Line numbers and Horizontal Microseconds, whereas, most synchronisers only allow for an adjustment to be made with whole Pixel numbers.

The Calculator overcomes the problem by converting these measurements into one Pixel Value. A value can also be entered to account for any Current Offset which may be already set in the synchroniser. A useful feature, is the fact that the Engineer can measure and input, the measurements for up to 6 different signals at once.
The calculator can be used for all 23 recognised SMPTE SDI standards of High/Standard Definition Video.

The user only needs to enter;
•The current SDI Format.
•The Measured ‘Line Number value’ along with whether its advanced or delayed.
•The Measured ‘Horizontal Microsecond value’ along with whether its advanced or delayed.
•The Current Offset which may be already set in the Synchroniser. This can be done individually for each signal or simultaneously, where all the current offsets are the same value.
